Windsor Locks Canal State Park:
Many common species seen and heard, including:
A very lyrical Gray Catbird,
Double- breasted cormorant diving and swimming in the canal
Mute Swans: pair flew overhead, heading north
Bald Eagle: pair continue to take turns in the nest

Sadly, the pair of nesting Canada geese have abandoned the nest. I just so happened to be observing them when they both stood above the eggs, looked down at them, then walked off the nest. Next, the male (I presume) was honking loudly as they swam away. I’m quite interested in goose/bird behavior, and wonder if this may have somehow been associated with grief, or letting other geese know it was ok to come back to that area he had so diligently defended… Likely may never know, either way, was sad to see it abandoned.

This is the second time Merlin identified a ring-neck pheasant at the park, I’ve not seen it. I’d be curious to know if anyone has seen a pheasant there or if it’s a common “miss” by the app.
