Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsHi All,
We are doing the loop in pieces with our C-Dory Tomcat on a trailer. This
summer we are going to be doing the Trent Severn canal from Trenton up to
the Georgian Bay in Ontario Canada. We know most of you don't haul and
trailer your boats but we were looking for possible suggestions on planning
the trip this summer.
We are going to launch in Trenton (leaving the truck / trailer there) and
take three weeks going up the canal system to Port Severn on the Georgian
Bay. We plan on hauling in the Port Severn area and returning to Vermont.
Just wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations on getting the truck
/ trailer from Trenton to Port Severn. Last year when we did the Rideau
Canal, I took the train from our end point (Montreal) back to the launch
point in (Kingston) to pick up the truck / trailer.
It looks like there is a bus from Port Severn through Toronto to Trenton
which I could take. Pretty long ride and it doesn't get to Trenton until
late in the evening. Can't find any trains that are convenient. We have
heard some friends who hired a driver to take their tow vehicle from
Trenton to Port Severn and park it there.
Any thoughts or recommendations / experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Best
Peter & Linda
