Hello,
Three things from the City of Tacoma's Arts & Cultural Vitality Division:
APPLY TO THE MURAL ARTIST ROSTER
Deadline: Tuesday, June 2 at 5 pm
The City of Tacoma's Mural Artist Roster is open for applications. The roster is used by the City, private building owners, and community groups to find and hire muralists. If accepted, your portfolio is hosted publicly so people can reach you directly for mural opportunities.
We are looking for artists who communicate a unique vision or perspective, show an authentic relationship to their subject matter, demonstrate an ability to engage a site and community, and show skill in technique and potential to work at mural scale.
To apply, you will need:
- A 250-word statement about your work
- A short bio
- 8 work samples with descriptions
Applications are submitted through Submittable. AI-generated content is not accepted as work samples. Artist teams may apply.
Eligibility: Pierce County resident, 18 or older, not a current Tacoma Arts Commission member or City of Tacoma employee.
Already on the roster? You can resubmit your portfolio with no panel review required. Check your inbox for direct instructions.

TAKE OUR STRATEGIC PLAN SURVEY
The Arts & Cultural Vitality Division is updating our strategic plan to guide the next 10 years and we want your input. The survey is short, anonymous, and takes just a few minutes.
This past year the City marked important milestones including the reauthorization of Tacoma Creates, the 25th anniversary of the 1% for Art Program, and the 24th anniversary of Tacoma Arts Month. We still have work to do.
We want to hear how well our programs and services are meeting community needs, how we can deepen equity and access, what to prioritize moving forward, and how people experience Tacoma's cultural landscape.
Whether you are an artist, a cultural organization, or a community member who values Tacoma's cultural sector, your perspective matters.
