Nothing unusual to report from Milford Pt at 6:00-7:15pm, but
Semipalmated Sandpiper numbers have grown significantly. There were an
estimated 1,980 Semis out there tonight on the incoming tide (high is
around 8pm). The birds were packed tightly on the back side of the
gravel sandbars, so it was very difficult to sort through them for
less common species. With this number of birds around, the flocks
should be scoured for rarities. Beware of Sanderlings, most of which
are still in breeding plumage and patterned very much like Red-necked
Stints.
