As you all know e run a bigger tender than most so we need more fuel. We
have been using 3 6 gal plastic cans plus the tenders has a 20 gal belly
tank and two spare tanks of 6 gals and two gals on board it.

We find that we're using more than we planned as our "side trips" exploring
are longer and more frequent that just running ashore to a
restaurant/shopping or the like.

So we need more fuel storage capacity. We are contemplating putting a 50-60
gal tank in our Portuguese Bridge which is above deck and can be very well
vented. This would also allow a nice gravity feed down to the dinghy to fuel
it.

Being able to pick the fuel stops would also allow us a bit better choice
than two weeks back when we had to fuel up at over $6/gal in Martinique.
That gets old very quickly!!

I really don't like the jerry jugs as they are never really secure when they
are new, IMO. After a little Caribbean sun, abrasion and a drop here or
there they really can become a worry. One thing for sure tho what every
scheme we finally use is even if the tank were burst open all the fuel will
go directly over the side not spill into the boat. Better a fine than a
fireball I always say ;-)

As always YMMV,

Cheers

What about the Sun beating down on those containers and the volatiles
passing off?
