Dear members,
Sending an email in case you haven't seen the facebook post/invite as I am not sure everyone actively checks FB.
We are having a group cycling field test on Saturday at Walton Endurance/Twisted Cog Bike Store in Phoenixville (167 Bridge Street) at 11:15 am - 12:15 pm. Brian will be doing a special test/team building exercise for the Gators. If you are interested in getting a baseline reading of heart rate zones, power output, etc. to plug into your Garmin for training this would be a great opportunity. As we have secured Walton Endurance as one of our sponsors this year, they are offering the first test at $25 and the next one free, the third one at $25 and the fourth one free. The information and reports you receive is a great deal for this two for one opportunity! If you have any questions on the report/data let me know and I can send you an example.
Another test will be scheduled in 2-3 months where those who signed up on Saturday can check the progress of their training or others who cannot make it on Saturday can get baseline data. It will be an intense workout but the best part will be that we are doing it together :).
If you are interested in coming on Saturday, I believe there are only 4 spots still available. Please register at www.waltonendurance.comhttp://www.waltonendurance.com (click on "sign up for classes" and look for Sat Jan 9, 11:15 am). Check out the bios for Brian and Dana Walton on the website who are icon cycling athletes located right in our area.
Please note: there will be a regularly scheduled trainer workout led by Danny at 7:30 am in Room 2 for those who are not participating in the test.
For those of you who are not familiar with a field test, please see some information below. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Performance/Fitness Training - Field Testing
Establish a starting point for your fitness so you can determine the type, intensity and frequency of training that you need to reach your goals. Once you know your fitness level you can choose the appropriate intensity and training that you need to reach your goals.
The field test are short but intense time-trials every 6-8 weeks throughout training that looks at the following data:
Time of each effort
Heart rate for each effort
Cadence for each effort
Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) - how hard you felt you were working for each effort
Includes warmup and cool down with either two eight minute intense sessions or a 20-30 intense session
