Loop Around Florida Keys

Anyone have any suggestions with cruising stops along Florida east coast
down around Florida Keys and backup Florida west coast? From what I have
read thus far Loopers use Lake Okeechobee as the cut through instead of
looping around Florida Keys. Thank you in advance for your knowledge.
