On the cover of Power Cruising this month (Jan-Feb 06) -- as well as on page
82 with a short sea trial article -- is the new Island Pilot 39 which uses
twin Volvo-Penta 350-hp Duoprop sterndrives. Reuben Trane deserves credit for
boldly going where others fear to tread. I thought the IP-39 was one of the
most interesting and appealing new (non-cats) at the Annapolis show last
fall. I'm sure Reuben would argue strongly in favor of the stern-drive option --
he was very persuasive in the short conversation I had with him. (His
website is: http://www.islandpilot.com/ (http://www.islandpilot.com/) )
