On-site Anaerobic Digester, Open house
Monday July 13th, from 11-1 pm or 3-6pm
At the Pacific Lutheran University reDesign House
515 125th St S
Tacoma, WA 98444
Anaerobic digestion is a natural process that converts food waste into
methane and liquid fertilizer.
Impact BioEnergy has temporarily loaned us their AD 25 HORSE digester
for display on site showcasing the ability to turn food scraps and other
biological waste material into electricity, hot water, and methane fuel.
This unit is designed to take 150 lbs of food waste a day, enough to
service a small/medium restaurant or neighborhood scale food waste and yard
waste. Capturing and using methane in this way is much more efficient than
wasting those gases in a landfill or even a composting facility.

for yourself!
*The reDesign house is a demonstration site for retrofitted residential
site sustainability solutions through design. You can also view examples of
lawn conversion practices, low/no irrigation landscape design, perennial
edible food systems, aquaculture design, material selection choices, and
much more. *
