Gator Fitness Challenge
It was mentioned in an earlier e-mail that we'll start something called the "Gator Fitness Challenge" on Monday, 9/29. Since we're only a couple of weeks from that date, I wanted to give you an idea of what it's all about... As an incentive to continue to maintain all of the fitness gains that have been made during the spring/summer (versus starting all over in January... Ugh!), we're going to start a totally voluntary program where, if you choose to participate, you commit to completing at least one swim, bike, and run workout (scheduled club workouts or on your own) each week through the end of December (total of 14 weeks); a minimum of 15 minutes must be spent on each sport and the total for each week must be at least an hour... Not too bad, right... at least 14 hours of training over a three month period? If you are interested in participating, you can reply back to me (I'll include reminders in e-mails that go out between now and then) and I'll put together a check-in sheet and post it on the pool bulletin board that includes anyone that signs up. Each name will have set of boxes for each week that you simply check when you complete the challenge. This will be entirely on the honor system. All participants that make it all the way through the end of the year will be recognized for their achievement (hey, we're on a budget, so no fantastic prizes or anything like that). So send your "I'm in for the challenge!" replies if you are interested in participating.
Have a great week of training!
Don
Hello Gators,
Following is a list of this week's remaining scheduled club training
opportunities:
Monday, 9/22, 8:30pm-9:30pm: Tri Swim class
Tuesday, 9/23, 8:30pm-9:30pm: Yoga only... There will not be a group run before yoga this week
Wednesday, 9/24, 10am-11am and 8:30pm-9:30pm: Tri Swim class
Thursday, 9/25, 8:30pm-9:30pm: Bike Trainer workout on the Y indoor pool
deck; note the later start time and shortened duration
Saturday, 9/27, 8:30am-11:30am: Since the forecast looks good (83 and sunny), we're tentatively planning a return to Blue Marsh for an OWS and bike ride. As it is a bit cooler now in the mornings, the plan is to start with the bike ride at 8:30am (one "Cujo Loop" and maybe a bit more) and follow it with the OWS starting around 10am-10:30am (so you can sleep in and meet us around 10am if you only want to swim). If you are planning to go, please reply so that I can... (1) make sure there is enough interest and (2) know who to look for.
PS - Reminder that the Gator Fitness Challenge commences next week starting on Monday, 9/29 (so you would have to get in your first set of swim/bike/run workouts by no later than Sunday, 10/5).
