Georgs asked about Yum Yum's performance.

Yum Yum (Aventure 460) has a semi-displacement catamaran hull design with
double hard splines on each sponson and a wave splitting nacelle.  She now
is now 18 months young and has a total of 7800 miles on her with 650 hrs on
each engine. We have lived aboard her since taking delivery.

She is equipped with twin Yanmar 370 turbo-diesel engines model 6LYA.  This
permits us to cruise at either trawler speeds or what we call turbo speeds.
At trawler speed the engines are going between 1200 and 1600 rpm and we
travel anywhere between 8 and 12 mph depending upon current, winds and sea
state with a burn rate that ranges between 6 to 9 gal/hr.

Turbos kick in smoothly at 2600 rpm and engines run comfortably all day at
3100 rpm.  She comes up on plane at 2600 hundred and when we run at higher
speeds we will typically run at 3100 rpm.  It really dependends on current,
wind and sea state. In 4-5 foot seas she rides beautifully at turbo speeds.
Initial turbo speeds allow us to cruise at 18 mph and at 3100 rpm we average
23+ mph.  Burn rates of course will vary with rpm, current, winds and sea
state. At 2600 rpm (18mph) she has a burn rate of about 16 g/hr and at 3100
rpm (23mph)about 25 gal/hr.

We recently made the run from Appalachicola to Tampa Fl, some 185 miles with
near perfect glass conditions (except for fog) in 6.5 hrs with a burn rate
of 25 gal/hr.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the informative post, Pierre. Lots of excellent data to
file away.

How you encountered seas greater than two or three feet? How did Yum
Yum handle them, on the bow, beam and stern?

How would you describe the ride in general conditions? How does your
wife like it?
