POINT PELEE MIGRATION REPORT-MAY 1, 2023

After a wet, cold, and windy morning the clouds have partially cleared and birding picked up a bit. Only 7 species of warbler have been see today.

At the Tip, a number of ducks were noted including SURF SCOTER and SCAUP SP. Several HORNED GREBES were seen and a COMMON LOON was noted. A PILEATED WOODPECKER was seen near the washrooms at the Tip.

Woodland Trail had a HOODED WARBLER near post 7, and an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was near post 4. Also seen between bridge A and bridge B was a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER. An uncommon sight for a bird in the Park, a HAIRY WOODPECKER, near the north junction of Redbud Trail.

NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were seen along Shuster Trail.

A WOOD THRUSH was seen near the road display on Tilden Woods.

There has been no report of the BLACK VULTURE today.

Outside the Park at Wheatley there were 4 WILLETS seen on the beach.
