Most has been said about the various portions of the Great Loop, including
Georgian Bay, the North Channel, the Trent/Severn, etc., but in my ever so
humble opinion the MOST scenic portion of the Great Loop, is the portion hardly
ever taken....The Lower Mississippi River!

Hello all:

The following post is from Robert Mitchell.  For some reason it got
returned to him, so I am posting it on his behalf:

Bill

Tommy,

I am excited about our upcoming trip on the lower Mississippi, we
intend to start from Alton on March 20, go down the Mississippi to
the Red River, cut over into the Atchaflaya and down to Morgan City,
to the ICW, and on to Houston in time for the Wheels and Keels show in May.

We will take good notes and share them with the group, not sure what
the best way is, but at least use Active Captain (under the nom of
Captain Montana) to fill in up to date information. We have done the
Tennessee/Tombigbee four times, so this will be new and as I said in
the beginning. exciting.

Robert and Patty Mitchell, with Maggi the wonder dog
ORINOCO, lying Mississippi River at Alton.
