Good afternoon, all,

A member is seeking information related to proposed legislation or bills. They would like to know if your legislative body utilizes some form of identifier on the legislation to identify who the author is (not the legislative sponsor, who is identified by the legislator's specific name (s) on the legislation) or where the legislation originated from (for example, person X in the executive branch.)  By way of further example, certain State General Assemblies insert the legislative attorney's initials in the bottom margin. They are looking for info relating to the originator but wondering what other formats other colleague's use or have seen.

If you would like to reach out to this member or have any information, please send it to me at rarneja@imla.orgmailto:rarneja@imla.org and I'll pass it along.

Thank you,

For the County, sponsors are put on the Agenda Item Summary, which can be found online.  If the legislation is proposed by the County Executive, the sponsor is listed as the Council Chair on behalf of (or at the request of) the County Executive.
The bill or resolution number itself will not tell you the sponsor.
