FYI for the last 2 years the Friends of Hammonasset has sponsored a feeding station behind the nature center. The addition of a heated bird bath has been especially attractive even in this cold weather. A dedicated group of dedicated volunteers fill the feeders, and clean and refill the birdbath. If you would like to help feed the birds, support FOH, (www.hammonasset.org/membership) or when you are buying your seed at the Audubon shop, put some money on the FOH account there. It all goes to the feeder. By the way, be sure to check out the feeder cam to see all the activity there!

This is great Lorrie - thanks for sharing!
And for those who might want to watch the Hammo feeders from the comfort of home, here's a link to the feeder cam: https://menunkatuck.org/meigs-point-nature-center-camera

Hi Lorrie,
Thanks for that info! I’ll definitely put some money on the account next time I’m at the shop. :)
I was just at the park and swung by the feeders - felt like it was the lunch rush! Of note was a beautiful Fox Sparrow in the brush and a couple American Tree Sparrows on and around the feeders. But also some stunning Northern Cardinals, Song Sparrows, and White-throated Sparrows.
Cheers,
