6/1, Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center,  10am-1PM.  mid
tide-rising, sunny, 64-68F.
The center was busy with human visitors who had lots of questions about our
ospreys, purple martins and wildlife.
Our ospreys were on site- female on nest, occasionally leaving it to
stretch , arranging nest materials and back on nest- hard to tell if eggs
have hatched yet since no camera is available, but she did have her head
down into the nest on occasion.  Male on his perch all morning.  Plus 5
other ospreys across the marsh.
Estimate of about 100  semipalmated sandpipers and 2 semipalmated plovers
on mudflats, plus 1 DC cormorant (juvenile) and 3 Oystercatchers on another
mudflat. 1 American Black duck, 1 Great egret, 1 Snowy egret, 1 Common Tern
and 1 Least tern- flying & fishing.  Same Canada Goose with drooping right
wing on marsh edge, feeding and preening.
On grounds: 1 Brown Thrasher and 1 Downy woodpecker on the suet cake, 5
Common grackles, about 8 American crows flying, 1 Barn swallow, 2 Tree
swallows flying & entering a nest box, 2 Starlings, family of 4 House
finches- feeding two of the juveniles, 1 Catbird, 1 Mockingbird, 2
Cardinals,; singing Carolina wrens and Titmouse, American robins, red
winged blackbirds, Song sparrows and numerous House sparrows with young.
Full report on Ebird.
