Interested in gaining teaching experience? Want to learn more about our local environment? Want to share your love of the outdoors and work in environmental advocacy? If so, working with our Watershed Adventures program as a docent is for you. We will be training docents this month for the program. The Watershed Adventures program provides an outdoor education experience for 4^th and 5^th grade classes. The students spend 5 hours in Puget Gulch (includes travel time to and from school) rotating through different stations: Trees and their importance and aspects, Water Quality, Stream habitat characteristics and native versus non native invasive plants, similarities and identifying characteristics. As a docent, we will train you in presenting and instructing these four areas. You will take groups of 7-8 students and instruct for 45 minutes in each area. You will start out with one training day in the office to orient yourself with the training manual (please call to schedule) After the in office training, you will need to attend training on the following dates (Saturdays and Sundays) from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM: January 12th & 13th January 19th and 20th January 26th and 27th Docents should attend all six sessions. If these dates don’t work, please contact us and we might be able to work out a training schedule on other days.
