Stop signs and child safety

I observed a vehicle completely blow thru the stop sign by the park this morning, only slowing enough to make the corner.  Obviously, that's illegal.   More important than that, many kids walk to that location for the bus stop.  Visibility is low due to later sunrise now.  If a child had been in the street, this driver would likely have hit him or her.  This was a parent driving (not a teen).  Please have respect and drive as though your own children are walking on these streets.
Thank you.

Sincerely,Shannon

Unfortunately this is not that unusual. I see it too regularly on my walks.

I saw a white Chevy truck do that exact thing this morning around 615. It was very dark. If a child had been in the street they would have hit them. The speed bump didn't appreciably slow them down.

The bumps are plenty big. They would work better if people did not go around the ones they can and the catapult themselves through the turn! Everyone just needs to be aware and drive as if they or their kids were out for a sunday stroll. Flying through the hood and running stop signs does not get anyone anywhere any faster.

Thanks,

Have a Great day!

I saw a woman in a grey 4-door sedan run the stop sign by the park this morning around 8:45, as I and another car approached our stops. She didn’t even look, and also just slowed down enough to make the turn!
This is a serious problem in the neighborhood!

Perhaps it is time to mount cameras on the light pole and put a warning sign below each stop sign announcing that those who don't stop will be subject to prosecution. Bill Drees

The bumps are plenty big. They would work better if people did not go around the ones they can and the catapult themselves through the turn! Everyone just needs to be aware and drive as if they or their kids were out for a sunday stroll. Flying through the hood and running stop signs does not get anyone anywhere any faster.

Thanks,

I observed a vehicle completely blow thru the stop sign by the park this morning, only slowing enough to make the corner.  Obviously, that's illegal.   More important than that, many kids walk to that location for the bus stop.  Visibility is low due to later sunrise now.  If a child had been in the street, this driver would likely have hit him or her.  This was a parent driving (not a teen).  Please have respect and drive as though your own children are walking on these streets.
Thank you.

Sincerely,Shannon

Yes our child rides the bus.  I was just there.  A white car and a white truck came down the hill and they slowed down but neither actually stopped.  Right afterwards a child crossed the street to catch the bus.  I certainly hope no child is harmed by by one of you.

I've started using my GPS with its dash cam even in the neighborhood.
Why? Because I've noticed people within the neighborhood running
various stop signs (e.g. those at April Dawn and Limestone Pass or
Woodway Bend and Limestone Pass).  I am hoping to capture some license
plates in the images in order to post them to the list.  I've also
encountered issues with neighbors entering the subdivision and taking
their lane down the middle of the road as they pass the first set of
mailboxes ... and I was in a pick-up while they were in a (rather
expensive) sedan.

Drivers ignoring the traffic rules and also the HOA rules regarding
parking on the street have been a chronic problem in our neighborhood.
I have to admit that I am totally baffled and appalled at the
selfishness, to say nothing of the disregard for the safety of ones
neighbors, being demonstrated by those who engage in these acts.  I can
only conclude that those who do these acts are so self-centered that
they will probably deny their being guilty of them ... they will
undoubtedly continue to live in denial of their endangering their
neighbors and neighbors' children.

I've started using my GPS with its dash cam even in the neighborhood.  Why? Because I've noticed people within the neighborhood running _various_ stop signs (e.g. those at April Dawn and Limestone Pass or Woodway Bend and Limestone Pass).  I am hoping to capture some license plates in the images in order to post them to the list.  I've also encountered issues with neighbors entering the subdivision and taking their lane down the middle of the road as they pass the first set of mailboxes ... and I was in a pick-up while they were in a (rather expensive) sedan. Drivers ignoring the traffic rules and also the HOA rules regarding parking on the street have been a chronic problem in our neighborhood.  I have to admit that I am totally baffled and appalled at the selfishness, to say nothing of the disregard for the safety of ones neighbors, being demonstrated by those who engage in these acts.  I can only conclude that those who do these acts are so self-centered that they will probably deny their being guilty of them ... they will undoubtedly continue to live in denial of their endangering their neighbors and neighbors' children.
