I had the Magnum 2000 watt inverter charger. It would not run the washing
machine. Magnum switched it out for their 2800 watt unit which works fine.
We almost always run the wash cycle on the inverter as running the generator
for 80 minutes to power a 375 watt draw does not make sense. Many times we
will turn the generator on for the last 20 minutes and with 200 amps of
charge bring the batteries back up.

I know you don't really need a "me too" post, but here's one anyway...  :o)
I have the Magnum MS2812 with the Me-ARC50 control and the BMK battery
monitor.  Couldn't be more pleased. It runs my Splendid washer/dryer, an air
compressor, and anything else I've tried. I've also installed several of
these systems in customers boats and have had no issues. Magnum is a good
company with good tech support.

As a former sailor, wannabe trawler person, I have flowed this inverter/charger thread with interest. Several have posted that they "run their air compressor". What is the purpose/use of and air compressor on a trawler?

Mine powers a large Buell air horn mainly. It’s a regular household 120v oiless compressor that I also use with a hooka rig to dive on the boat if needed. Then, just general use where it’s always handy to have air for various projects, repairs. The point here is that the 2812 will run the large motor load a compressor has.

I also meant to mention that Magnum has two controls, the ME-RC50 and the ME-ARC50. The ARC model has a “Fav’s” button that allows you to program the most frequently used 5 pages to one button. This feature makes it worth the extra $60 or so in my opinion.

And the discalimer, I do work for a company that are dealers for virtually all the major inverter manufacturers.

We too use our air compressor for the Buell and Hooka, plus filling fenders, beach balls, and lots of other uses having compressed air comes in handy for aboard the boat. A Thomas T-35.

Just to confirm:  When I was collecting details about Magnum inverter/chargers with which people had problems, it was without exception the smallest units, the 2000W ones.  Again, without exception I did not have anyone using a larger inverter call out a problem.  And I also only 'counted' 1st hand experiences, not 'I had a friend who know someone who...' :-)    My guess (just a guess), Magnum sells a lot into the RV industry, and deploys a lot of these 2000W inverters - as such I suspect they are rather cost sensitive.

As mention before doing it again I would look to the 2812 or larger model.  But then, if one is not powering complex inductive loads - there are a ton of the 2000w units out there with happy customers :-)
