I made a suggestion to Bill Kimley that the rest of you might like to follow. We made labels for equipment where the serial, model and other important information was hard to get at and read and put that info on a label and put the label near the equipment but in an easier to read location.
For instance on DD 462-1 the inverter is located in a locker starboard side and the numbers are on the far side. It takes a mirror to read them. So we put a label with the info in the locker at about head high. Next time someone wants the info it will be readily visible without removing any equiapment from the locker.

With diesel engines you want to include the build number or order number as well as the serial number. Seems that this is needed when ordering certain parts.
