Gentle Wind - the next chapter

Gentle Wind will be leaving Honolulu on Friday August 5
after having spent a week resting and enjoying the sun.
Our next stop is Christmas Island (Kiritimati, in the
Republic of Kiribati), and then on to Rangiroa, a large
atoll in the Tuamotus.  We're skipping the up-hill slog
to the Marquesas - no sense fighting the 20-plus knots
of south-east trade winds.

For those who monitor fuel prices, marine diesel was
$2.26 (all taxes included) at Keehi Marince Center in
Honolulu this morning.  We took on about 700 gallons
to top off the tanks.  Regular unleaded gasoline is
running around $2.50/gallon, although it is reported
to be available for $2.25 at CostCo.
