Visitors:
Thank you to all our amazing observers today including Michelle, Jacob,
Larry, and Peter. It was extremely helpful today to have you all!
Weather:
The weather today started off cooler and cloudy, but quickly cleared up and
warmed slightly. The wind started out northeast for about half the day and
switched to southeast.
Raptor Observations:
WOW. 7 golden eagles! Today was a huge day. We had an incredible show of
golden eagles over the tower, a few hanging around for a good view. The
turkey vulture and red tailed hawk count was equally as amazing with 3490
and 709 respectively. There were many, many buteos travelling with turkey
vultures today, including 77 red-shouldered hawks. There were also a
handful of migrating bald eagles. There have been less sharpies than usual
with 37, and. 13 harriers.
Non-raptor Observations:
Most of our attention was on the migrating raptors today. There are
increasing numbers of waterfowl on the marsh again today, gadwall and coot
in highest numbers. There were a few horned grebe on the lakeside too. 13
bald eagles were playing around. in the marsh this morning, a higher count
than usual. Evening grosbeaks flew over the tower early this morning along
with horned larks. Bluebirds were present in good numbers flying over as
well.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks promising for another good, migration day although the winds
will mostly be south. There should be lots of migrating red-tails, turkey
vultures and possibly more golden eagles.
