As a follow-up to Chris’s report: on January 11 we had a mother bear and two yearling cubs sniffing around our thistle feeder. It was late in the afternoon, and the temperature, as I recall, was 33 degrees.

Granted, we live in a high density bear area along the Talcott Mountain ridge, but this still came as a shock to us.
