Town Board of Trustees.  Repairs to sewer facility.  Can only find one
entity to do repairs.  Repairs exceed $10,000.00 but less than $15,000.00.
only exception I can find is for emergencies and not sure that even
applies.  Am I missing any exceptions to the competitive bidding act?  Any
suggestions?  We would love to have multiple prices but have not found
anyone to give other than this one entity.

Kevin,

Do the town’s ordinances require competitive bidding if the amount is more than $10,000?  The Public Competitive Bidding Act, 61 OS 101, et seq., only requires competitive bidding for contracts exceeding $50,000.  Our ordinance used to require competitive bidding for $10,000 or more, but that was changed to $25,000 some years ago.  If your ordinances require bidding, then no, you are not missing an exception.  Have them go out for bids, even knowing they may only receive one bid.
