I've heard the figure of $4 per mile mentioned. I just got a price of
$3,900 to haul a 34-foot 14,000 pound (sail)boat from Rock Hall MD to St
Petersburg FL . . . about 1050 miles. Did from Joule Transport out of St
Pete FL and a well-known mover of factory new boats. So the $4 per foot
estimate is reasonable. However, direction of travel and time of year CAN
make a big difference. This same trip was quoted to me at $2,450 but
earlier in the Summer before the many South-bound boaters filled the
hauler's schedule. (Note: Those quoted costs did not include unstepping or
stepping the mast and packing for the trip.)
