Hello Everyone,

Below are a few reminders of all of the approaching deadlines:

Reminder ASA 2015 in Chicago: ASA’s submission deadline is January 7th at
3:00 pm EST.

This year the CITASA section has two open sessions on any aspect of
Communication, Media, and/or Information Technologies. We also have our
section round tables.

In addition, members may be interested in regular sessions that are being
held on Media Sociology, Internet and Society, and Technology.

Also, please renew your ASA and section memberships if you haven’t already.

Please see the updated call for submissions to Emerald Studies in Media and
Communication http://www.emeraldmediastudies.com/Calls---Volumes.html
(also attached at the end of this email).

We have been working on a new website http://citasa.info/! It is not
quite finished yet but all of the important and up-to-date information can
be located there. We'll have more info about the site out soon. Most
recently, the "Awards" page has been updated to reflect the 2014 winners.
You can also find the current call for nominations there (and attached at
the end of this email).

The upcoming Spring CITASA newsletter will include a section for
announcements and other timely information. Announcements can include (but
aren't limited to) upcoming grant or fellowship applications,
good news (e.g. getting tenure or promotion to full professor), upcoming
conferences of interest, and job announcements (as long as they have
already appeared in the ASA job bank).

If you are interested in sharing an announcement for the newsletter, please
send your announcements and other timely information to Robyn Keith at
robynakeith@utexas.edu no later than Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Attention doctoral candidates! We’d like to showcase your dissertation
research in the CITASA newsletter. Taking advantage of this opportunity is
an excellent way to increase the visibility of your work. Once published
within the CITASA newsletter, authors may consider including their featured
work on their CVs. If you are interested in having your dissertation
research featured as a special profile in the newsletter, please email the
following information as a Word document (not PDF!) to Elizabeth Schwarz at
eschw001@ucr.edu by Wednesday, January 7, 2015:

  1. Author name, year of graduation, title, institution, email, Twitter
    username

  2. Author photo (if you want your photo published)

  3. Graphic (if there is a specific .jpg you want to illustrate your
research; please make sure the image abides by all copyright laws)

  4. Active link to your dissertation research (this link could be to your
    own website, for example).

  5. Dissertation title

  6. Summary with key points (theories, methods, findings, conclusions,
future research) [no longer than 250 words]

  7. [optional and will NOT be published in the newsletter] Other
dissertation authors you recommend as future featured candidates for the
CITASA newsletter (please send their name and email)

Best,

Apryl Williams
