Would you like to share your passion for arts with others? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to make a huge impact on local children as you act as a role model to help them achieve personal growth? As the Visual Arts Instructor, you will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants in visual arts classes.
If hired for this position you will work with the Program Director to develop lesson plans with a natural progression that relate to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught as well as reflect YMCA core values. You'll assist the director with visual arts exhibitions and prepare students and student work for the exhibitions. You will fine tune your skills as an instructor by teaching and demonstrating sound technical and artistic principles.
In this position you will provide an impactful member experience by monitoring student progress in all classes and effectively communicating program information and student progress to the arts director. You will ensure high quality member-focused digital arts programs by providing leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants.
In this position you will be able to use your skills to teach classes like:
Drawing, Painting, Preschool Arts, Ceramics... AND MORE!!
Are you a good fit?
- You have 5 years of technical visual arts training.
- You have 1-2 years of experience in visual arts as a teacher and/or teaching assistant.
- You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level art classes.
- You are excited to teach visual arts classes for ages preschool through adult.
Starting Rate: $14.49+ DOE
Hours: Part time - up to 25 hours per week
Benefits: As a part time employee you receive flexible schedules, a membership to all branches of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties and ability to utilize all branches in Washington State, discounts on programs and merchandise, the opportunity to participate in a retirement savings plan.
