Hello everyone

I am President of the Community Voices of Fort Erie Inc. which was formed to save Erie Beach/Waverly Woods in Fort Erie from development. This property, one of the last undeveloped lakefront areas in Fort Erie, is rich in history and natural beauty and must be preserved for future generations. It well known as a breeding site for Red-headed Woodpeckers, Wood Thrush and Eastern Wood-pewee. It is also a high quality migratory stop over location in the spring and this spring 29 species of warblers were seen.

In 2018, we launched an appeal with the OMB/LPAT Tribunal concerning the Town of Fort Erie’s approval of the Harbourtown Village development slated for this property.  We are currently waiting for LPAT to set a date for the Hearing.

We have over 6,700 names on our petition through change.orghttp://change.org/.  If you add your name, you will help to support our cause.  Just go to https://www.change.org/p/ten-story-condo-going-up-in-waverly-woods

More information about Waverly Woods can be found in a recent article for the Ontario Field Ornithologist http://ofo.ca/library/serve/on-38-2/index.html?page=15 and here https://sites.google.com/view/communityvoicesfe/home.

Thanks for helping!
Marcie
