Actually they had the canal running back in November. All locks were working then already and they opened for a week or so to let stuck boats in and out. Some of the locks on the eastern Erie Canal may look a bit nasty, but* * they'll be prettied up shortly. Just got my engine started, fresh water filled, etc etc. All is well,* * except the fresh water pump is not feeling so well. No big deal, takes about 10 minutes to change it out.
