Elizabeth raced small sailboats and I grew up on sailboats and a 38'
houseboat, we now have a 32' Nordic Tug. We are planning on leaving
on a 2 year trip doing the Loop and side trips along the way. We are
thinking that a larger boat would be better. We saw the Endeavour
TrawlerCat 44 and loved it. Our main concern is the beam at 18'8",
will we have any problems with slips along the way. I have just
started to read the archives and don't know if this question has been
answered.  Would like to not have to worry about being too wide. From
what I have read so far, this looks like a great group and am glad to
be a part of it.

Hi Blair:

My wife Judy and I picked up our Endeavour 44 on January 08, 2006 and we have had no problems in our short time with the Endeavour 44.

We are doing the Great Circle Loop and do not anticipate any dockage problems with the 18'  8" beam.  Did a lot of investigating on slip availability before we purchased and found most large marina's maxed out with 50'long by 20' wide slips.

We also plan to anchor out a lot.

We also have been operating with one engine at a time and cruising at 6.8 to 7.4 knots.
Two hour internvals we change engines.  Run the engines at 2100 to 2200 rpms to minimize sooting of engines when running slow speeds.

Judy and I will keep folks posted as we do this journey.

Be sure to post progress reports to Power Catamaran List once you
start cruising the Great Loop.

From where are you starting and when? What kind schedule/itinerary do
you have in mind?

Anyone else on the List planning to head out on the Great Loop?

If you're going to be passing through the lovely Trent-Severn
Waterway in Ontario, be sure to let me know. I live an hour south of
the lift lock at Kirkfield and would love to drive up to say hello.
