Dear NCL Members,

As you know, one of NCL's goals is to raise public awareness about the need and value of adult education and family literacy via Adult Ed and Family Literacy Week and other strategic measures. This year's theme is shining a light on how adult education is part of the solution for addressing economic inequality which NCL hopes to accomplish through aggressive outreach to the media by NCL and it's members.

In April, COABE launched a public awareness campaign which ties in very nicely with this theme. Please watch one of the videos we shared during our national conference in Dallas, TX (here). We also hope you will join us for our webinar on talking to the media on Wednesday, July 20th which we have retooled just a bit with help from Silja Kallenbach, one of the members on the AEFL campaign committee. Registration (here) is free, and we hope you will share this information with your constituents.

Background on our webinars: on Tuesday, July 28th, COABE held it's first PD webinar. Over the course of the year, we put together a schedule that covered a variety of topics and conference strands. Over 10,000 members have registered for our webinars, all of which was made possible through generous funding and partnerships with other leaders in adult education.
