Today I’m celebrating, really celebrating, with great excitement that The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has approved a grant of $71,000.00 to the HBCU Library Alliance in support of the Preserving the Story of the HBCU Library Alliance project. This is the first grant directly submitted by and awarded to the HBCU Library Alliance. Thanks are in order to Founding Board chair Loretta Parham for her contact with the Mellon Foundation and assistance with writing the proposal. The goal of the project is to gather information to document the history of our unique organization. A major outcome of this project is increasing the Alliance’s visibility and its ability to acquire grants and secure new funding sources, thus increasing opportunities for organizational sustainability. We have begun the process for recruiting a part-time Project Coordinator/Writer, possibly a doctoral or post doctoral student. The job description is attached for your review.
