Bach's Fifth Brandenburg Concerto and his Triple Concerto
• _Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 7:00 PM at St. Luke's Memorial Episcopal
Church in Tacoma
Our baroque strings:_
Elizabeth Phelps ~ baroque violin
Courtney Kuroda ~ baroque violin
Lindsey Strand-Polyak ~ baroque viola
Martin Bonham ~ baroque cello
Our exuberant final 2022 program with seven period instrument
specialists from Canada, Indiana, Montana and Washington offers a
fabulous display of dazzling virtuosity. Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fifth
Brandenburg Concerto and the rarely performed Triple Concerto, both for
solo harpsichord, violin and flute with orchestra, are two of the most
difficult and moving works for harpsichord. But difficulty? You will not
perceive it. Jonathan Oddie newly named professor of harpsichord at the
Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana,
projects the profound joy inherent in these works without resistance.
Carrie Krause will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s virtuoso Violin Concerto
“La Stravaganza” No 3 in G and Jeffrey Cohan will perform Carl Philipp
Emanuel Bach’s Flute Concerto in D Major alongside the two fabulous
concerti by Bach*.
We would be delighted to have you join us!
