Recently there has been mention of two books on this list,
Wanderer by Sterling Hayden and Northwest Passage Solo by David Scott
Cowper. I ordered both from Amazon and yesterday started the one by
Cowper. It was only the second time in my life I had read a book in one
day. I just could not stop. The first few chapters tell about the quest
to find the passage for a trading route and the many lives and ships
that were lost. With the exception of Franklin's expedition something
was learned from each failed attempt.
The remainder of the book tells of the 4 ½ year journey to
circumnavigate via the NW passage solo. It was his fourth trip around
and second in the same power boat. Great reading.
