Subject: Re: GL: Call Al Gore about cold weather
Amen Larry.
Hey, it's just winter time. Some are warmer and some colder. Sometime lots
of snow, others not so much. I grew up in Michigan, some years we measured
snow in inches, some in feet. If it was a cold winter we skated on the farm
ponds before Christmas and then all winter on. If a warm one we were lucky
to get in a months worth.
What we have now, but not back then, is MEDIA and they thrive on anything
they can extort as some kind of extreme. They have to hype something to keep
ratings up and advertisers $$$$ money coming in. I notice now they are
"naming" almost every low pressure weather front that comes through. Why, just
to add to the hype and stir the easily influenced masses.
It's just the weather, same as always has been. The difference is now we
know not only about our own but the rest of the world as well. Especially if
it's a stormy day somewhere.
It's almost March, lets get ready for boating season.

Seeing that this weather is so serious, let's all be reminded that the
Creator is the One we should call. And that there is a reason the weather
is so against us. I am 64, and have never seen a winter half this cold, nor
half this snowy.
We should stop being so parochial. World wide this has been the fifth
warmest winter in weather recording history. Rain storms drowned Europe while
the US west coast was experiencing a drought. There is a near record
breaking heat wave in Australia. Remember that the USA encompasses only about 2%
of the world's land area and the east coast a fraction of that. It is very
cold here but weather mavens consider our conditions a mere blip on the
chart of global warming. As for the snow. My wife and I regularly take a two
week XC ski vacation in Vermont. This year it snowed so little that we could
only get out on the trails three times in 15 days. Yet in our home in the
Hudson Valley we had four successive twelve inch blizzards. Buck up. It will
be summer soon and we can start complaining about the heat.
