Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Elizabeth Kent, Michael Arthurs

Visitors:
We appreciate all the interest in the tower and the hawk watch but remind
everyone that the tower remains closed to members of the public and has a
three-person limit reserved for the Hawk Counters. Thank you to all who are
respecting these precautions. Be safe everyone!

Weather:
The first couple of hours were foggy with limited visibility, but the sun
soon burned off the fog and it steadily cleared throughout the morning.
Winds started in the north but soon altered to south.  Temperature started
below 10c but steadily rose to 15c by the end of the day.

Raptor Observations:
As the sun appeared so did the Turkey Vultures (1,503), accompanied by good
numbers of Buteos, especially Broad-wings (94). Reasonable numbers of
Red-Tails and Red-shoulders were also observed but all at a distance to the
north. Fewer falcons today, but Sharp-shins and Northern Harriers kept
their numbers up.

Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jay numbers are starting to diminish with 18,020 seen (still a good
amount though). Waterfowl are continuing to increase on the marsh with 7
species of duck. Not so many songbirds today, but Blue-headed Vireos are
still around. The highlights today were 2 Sandhill Cranes over the north
side of the marsh and a single Snow Goose following a line of Canada Geese.
A Common Nighthawk was also seen over the woods. A full Ebird list can be
found at https://ebird.org/checklist/S74472955

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks similar to today but with slightly higher temperatures. The
wind remains in the SW.  Hopefully there will be no fog in the early
morning. Providing it is clear we expect to see more Turkey Vulture
migration with accompanying Buteos.
