Orinoco left Alton last Sunday, April 1, and are planning to go to Houston via the Lower Mississippi and the Atchaflaya. Currently we are in Osceala Ark in a "slack water" harbor, with Memphis next.
Running the river downstream has been a pleasent surprise, we have done the Tennessee and Tom-Bigbee route 4 times, and I have to say this is a pretty nice trip. We made stops on the upper Mississippi at Hoppies and at Little diversion canal then into New Madrid on the lower Miss. With the 4-5 mph current, our 9 mph cruise becomes 13.5 and hundred mile days are very doable.
So far anchorages on Active Captain have been right on.
