Invitation to Capitol Hill Briefing in Washington D.C. on February 14th, Love Your Workforce: Local Innovations in Workforce Development

On February 14th, 2019 members of the NAWB will be joining the United States Conference of Mayors, the National League of Cities and the National Association of Counties for a briefing on Capitol Hill. This event, "Love Your Workforce: Local Innovations in Workforce Development" will be hosted at the United States Capital as we attempt to further bring national attention to myriad of positive ways that workforce boards impact local communities. The local workforce system is an effective, locally-driven model that provides public and private-sector leaders with the opportunity to custom design programs and deploy funding to meet the unique needs of their regional labor markets. This event will bring together cities, counties and workforce development boards from across the nation to share how they are driving innovation in workforce development at the local level to provide America with a highly skilled workforce that competes in the global economy.

The event will be moderated by Christopher Cabaldon the Mayor of West Sacramento, California and the Chair of The United States Conference of Mayors Jobs, Education and the Workforce Standing Committee. Featured panelist include David Remick, the Executive Director of the Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council, Kirkland Murray, the President of Anne Arundel County Workforce Investment Board, Robin Arredondo-Savage, a council member of Tempe, Arizona and Chair of National League of Cities Human Development Committee, and Pamela E. Lancaster the supervisor of Hall County, Nebraska and the Chair of National Association of Counties Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee - Workforce Subcommittee. More panelists are expected to be confirmed soon.
