Hi, I just experienced a media snapshot thumbnail showing in landscape but the image file is in portrait orientation.  I'd like to rotate the thumbnail to portrait.  Is there a control for this ?  Thanks.

?Willi,

There's no direct way to rotate an image using the UI.  However, it is possible to rotate images in an indirect manner.  I'll send you some instructions for finding and rotating images.

In the mean time, I'd like you to clarify something.  The original image you uploaded was in portrait, but the thumbnail CollectionSpace created is in landscape?  If so, this sounds like a bug that we'd like to learn more about and be able to reproduce.

Funny—I just noticed the same behavior myself before reading this thread.

In my case, the image was of a bottle and was taken in landscape
orientation. The photographer then used Bridge to rotate the photo to its
proper portrait orientation. Then once the photo was uploaded, the
derivatives (thumb and medium) were rendered in landscape orientation. When
I viewed the original asset in CSpace, however, it was in proper portrait
orientation.

I downloaded and re-saved the image in Photoshop and when I re-uploaded it,
the original and all derivatives were in the proper landscape orientation.

Yes, my original photo is in portrait, and the thumbnail got created (or is rendering) in landscape.

?Willi,

So Michael's workaround for this issue is a lot more straight forward than the solution I alluded to in my last email.  I'll still post my image rotation instructions soon, but please give Michael's  workaround first.

IIUC (and I may not), orientation can be "intrinsic" to the image (i.e. the
default or true orientation) or it may be specified in the EXIF metadara. I
suspect what is happening is that the problem images have rotation
specified via EXIF data and CSpace ignores this (many website, e.g. Etsy,
ignore EXIF metadata...). I dunno for sure! A speculation!
