Dear CollectionSpace,

My name is Rose Strickman and I am building a physical collections database
for the Greeks in Washington Museum in Seattle, Washington. We think that
CollectionSpace may be a good platform for our needs. However, we are not
tech-savvy and have no idea how to download and install CollectionSpace. I
don't even know if my computer has the necessary programs. If you could
send some advice regarding how to download and install, in layman's terms,
that would be great.

Thank you!

Rose Strickman

Ms. Strickman.

Thank you for your interested in CollectionSpace. The application is installed on a server and accessed via a web browser so you don't need any additional software on your users' computers; however, if you're not technically inclined, you'll very likely need some assistance with the installation process.

The installation instructions and server requirements can be found on the program wiki:

https://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Installing+CollectionSpacehttps://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Automated+installer+for+CollectionSpace+4.2

We are holding four online walkthroughs of CollectionSpace in January - on the 7th, 8th, 21st, and 22nd. I'd recommend attending one of them so that we can answer any questions you might have, and also provide some information about a mini-grant programhttp://www.collectionspace.org/grant-opportunities/ we have that can provide funding to get you up and running. If none of those dates work for you, please let me know and I'm happy to set up a time for a one-on-one call. Exact times/dates for the walkthroughs can be found on our community calendar:

http://www.collectionspace.org/calendars/2016-01/

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Megan
