The State of Ohio requires that you complete a total of 8 hours of training.  This is mandatory.  The time is broken up into 4 hours of handgun safety, range safety, Shooting positions, handgun cleaning and misc.  We take a 30 minute lunch break.  Then we have 15 minutes of travel to the range.  We spend 2 hours on the range, and then 15 minutes back to class.  The final 2 hours of class time cover the law regarding Ohio concealed carry of handguns.  Certificates are awarded and the class is dismissed.

DO NOT BRING YOUR FIREARM OR AMMUNITION INTO THE CLASSROOM!!!                                              In addition to it being unsafe, it is ILLEGAL!!!  No exceptions!!!
If you are thinking about taking this class and your spouse or significant other is not, please consider this scenario;  You are driving together and you need to run into the Post Office (or any other restricted place).  You put your gun in your glovebox while your spouse waits in the car.  A police officer pulls up and notices that your taillight is out.  Your spouse will be charged with possession of a concealed weapon and very likely more!  Even if they don't intend to carry, I always recommend that they have a license.  It's cheap insurance!
I personally want to thank you for putting your trust in my training.  In addition to being an NRA certified Instructor, meeting the Ohio requirements for being a licensed instructor (ORC 2923.125), I am also a licensed armed security contractor, having taken the Ohio Peace Officer training (OPOTA); providing personal protective services.  There are many instructors offering the Ohio CHL class, but I strive to provide factual and relevant information so you can feel confident after passing the course, and carrying a concealed handgun.

What to bring:

  • Valid government issue photo ID (drivers licenses, passport)

  • Handgun (revolver or pistol) If you are attending with someone else, you may share (rental guns available for $15 per person)

  • 100 rounds or more ammunition

  • Eye and Hearing protection

  • Snacks, drinks (water, coffee and doughnuts are provided)

  • All other materials are provided (pen, booklet, targets)

What to expect:

  • You will receive a binder with handouts and important information for the class

  • Please be on time (if you are late, plan on rescheduling! The required class hours are government mandated!)

  • During lunch time, all students must leave the building. Nearby restaurants are available.

  • Travel to and from the range takes 15 minutes (DON'T BE LATE)

  • The range is outdoors. The class runs rain or shine (dress accordingly)

Schedule:

  • 12:30-1:15pm Lunch (15 min. travel to range)

  • 1:30pm-3:30pm Range (2 Hours) (15 min. travel to class)

  • 4pm-6pm Class (2 Hours)

  • 6pm (Certificate awarded)

What to bring:

  • Valid government issue photo ID (drivers licenses, passport)
