Dear all,

It was a tough night for the first Wednesday night race of 2012.

While a rather dire weather forecast earlier in the day seemed to keep most
boats on their moorings, seven boats did try their luck.

After nearly an hour postponement a promising breeze filled in from the
east. But alas a combination of dying breeze and ebb current kept boats
from rounding 8 and started to sweep them down the river. A northbound
barge sealed the fate of a few boats as they were forced to abandon the
race and motor out of the channel.

The RC shortened the course and only two boats (Hee Soo and Odalisque)
eventually rounded the first mark when a bit of breeze filled in from the
east.

The breeze then died again with Odalisque choosing to abandon the race.
This left Hee Soo ghosting towards the finish. Eventually a breeze filled
in from the northwest enabling Hee Soo to finish within the new 2.5 hour
time limit.

Thanks to RC for doing their best to get a race in and sticking it out.

Please note for Non-Spin boats there was effectively no race (as no-one
finished) so for season scoring no points will be applied.

Best,

Eric
