Elaine, Bob *is* a great guy (not 'was') ... he still is. Stumbling along on my first canal trip in 2003, I first saw his work, and suddenly I felt like I had a friend showing me the way to the next port. It made a big difference for me. Now, whenever I spot something that has changed on the Canals, I notify Ted so he can put it in the Skipper Bob New York Canals book. Bob is out there cruising still. That's how I like to think of him.
