Note from one of our kids. They live in a near by gated community. Easy fix to protect your vehicles.

A couple of cars in our neighborhood were stolen late last week. It’s been the third time in Fallbrook in the last couple of months. Neighbors that were hit where told by PO that thieves have heavily targeted neighborhoods off of I-10 in this area recently. They are getting vehicles by entering the VIN number on the windshield into a program that has stolen info… then they copy a burner key fob to get in with no damage and drive off. Officers recommended to cover part of the VIN number for vehicles parked outside. For the truck we just slipped an index card on the dash to cover half. then we can still grab and remove it from the inside when needed.

Yes, someone can still find your vin online through your license plate info but at least this takes a little longer and thieves are looking for a quick hit.
