My new batteries for the house bank are a great improvement. I can
make it through the night with plenty of power to spare.
Unfortunately, I had to replace them with wet cells. I'm not a fan
of wet cell batteries. They are a pain to maintain and the
possibility of getting acid on things is not good. However, the
difference in price made the decision simple. An AGM 8D Lifeline
battery down here would cost $1000 US. That is for just one battery
and I needed three. The wet cells of the same size were selling for
$250 US. $3000 vs. $750 is a no-brainer. They should last me for a
couple of years and then when I get back to the US I will replace
them with some good dry cells. Does anyone have any experience with
the new AGM Energy 1 Northstar batteries? I have been looking at the
NSB210FT sold by Boat Electric in Seattle. They are half the size of
regular 8Ds and put out almost as much power. I would be interested
in any feedback.
