One of Olympia's favorite businesses, Browsers Books, is holding an artist
showing this August. Brett Rude is the featured artist.
Brett Rude is a self-taught artist. He finds his greatest inspiration in the
Color Field movement of the 1940s and 1950s in New York. As the subject of
his art, Brett explores the expressive power of color. Like music and
literature, color can dramatically affect one's moods, feelings and
emotions. Color can awaken joy and fear; it can create a place of peace or
stimulate high anxiety.
"This mystic quality of color should likewise find expression in a work of
art." Hans Hofmann
