Hello NCL members,

I'm pleased to share a new ProLiteracy white paper based on research
conducted by Dr. Stephen Reder, a longtime literacy researcher and
advocate. The Case for Investment in Adult Basic Education<https://www.
proliteracy.org/Resources/Need-for-Literacy-Research> provides
significant evidence that participation in adult basic skills programs has
a positive return on investment related to improving an adult's life.

While this return on investment is well-known to many educators, it has
remained largely unknown to policy makers, funders, and the general public.
This research provides a strong case for the need for increased investment
in adult education through federal and state policies, private foundations,
and individual donors.

We urge you to distribute and share the white paper widely through your
networks and to highlight the benefit of investment for adult literacy
education. Please use the following link: https://www.proliteracy.org/
Resources/Need-for-Literacy-Research. On the website you will also find a
document to help you to use and distribute this report.

Thank you,

Michele Diecuch
