CollectionSpace Community,

We are ready to begin QA for Release 2.1. It would be a great help to
the team if you could chip in and take on some of the testing tasks.

The full list of tasks is located here:

http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/UNRELEASED/Testing+tasks+2.1

To assign a task, simple grab onto the little gray square at the far
right of the row, and drag it under your name or the name of your
institution. Instructions for adding your name to the list are at the
top of the page. Once you've completed the test plan, click the little
check box. Please use the URL http://qa.collectionspace.org for all
testing.

Issues can be filed using the project's Jira instance,
http://issues.collectionspace.org. Fill out as much information as you
can about each bug - what browser/OS you are using, what step in the
test plan you were on when you found the bug, and any screenshots (if
appropriate). If you have any trouble using Jira please feel free to
email the list. Please do not use the comment function on wiki itself
to describe bugs - these are very easy to overlook.

Thanks,

  • Jesse

This is also a reminder that, as Jesse Martinez mentioned a couple
of days ago, the free "Bonfire" browser plug-in makes it truly easy to
submit new bug reports while you're doing testing:

   http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BONFIRE/Creating+Issues

In particular, Bonfire makes it ridiculously easy :-) to attach a
screenshot of what you're currently seeing in your browser, to your
new issue.

Bonfire is available for all of CollectionSpace's supported
browsers.  To install it, visit the CollectionSpace issue tracking
system, JIRA:

  http://issues.collectionspace.org

Once you log in with your JIRA username and password, you should
then see a banner at the top of the screen.  That banner contains a
link that will allow you to install Bonfire as a plug-in in your
current browser.  (You can install Bonfire in each of the browsers you
use for testing, if you wish.)

Following installation, you'll now have a new toolbar button and/or
menu item to launch Bonfire, whenever you wish to make a new bug
report.  (The first time you launch Bonfire, you'll be asked to fill
in the server URL - http://issues.collectionspace.org - and your JIRA
username and password; you'll only need to do that once.)

Feel free to share your experiences and tips with this plug-in here
on the Talk list.
