Beam

The over all width of
the boat is not to be confused with hull center lines which is actually where
the rubber hits the road.

What is the correct way to describe to distance between the center
line of the hulls? There must be a specific term to set that
measurement apart from the more common "beam."

We call that dimension the centreline to centreline beam, or CL-CL. In the
interests of simplicity when setting the boat up, we usually set that at a
nice even number and let the overall beam be what it may.More or less, as
long as it does not exceed whatever is the desired BOA [beam over all].

Regards,

Malcolm Tennant.
