Marelon Seacocks

I guess that it also should be said that no seacock, Marelon included,
should go for any length of time without being opened and closed, or vise
versa. The seacock to our engine gets closed, then opened whenever we check
our zinc, usually monthly. The other seacock, which drains our holding
tank, gets opened, then closed much less often, but several times during
the year. Forespar, in their maintenance recommendations, suggests
'exercising' their seacocks periodically, though they don't specify a time
frame.

For hard-to-turn seacocks or those in hard-to-reach locations, I really
recommend this "seacock helper"

https://www.topshelfmarine.com/product/sea-cock-ball-valve-helper/

It greatly reduces colorful language below decks.
